To become a Patent Agent, you must have a technical degree, or coursework roughly equating to a technical degree that meets the USPTO requirements, you must be a U.S. citizen or alien lawfully residing in the U.S., and, you have to pass the USPTO examination. Foreign non-residents who are admitted to practice before their countries patent office, may also become Patent Agents.
